How to read this table
- High water is the peak of the incoming tide. Best swimming near high tide on Seaford’s shingle beach.
- Low water exposes more of the beach and the rock pools at Splash Point and Hope Gap.
- Heights are above chart datum — mean sea level at Eastbourne is roughly half-way between MHWS and MLWS.
- For Cuckmere Haven, add roughly 10 minutes; for Birling Gap, add roughly 20 minutes.
