Noticeboard posting rules

The community noticeboard is for everyday notices from people in and around Seaford. These rules keep it useful and keep everyone safe. By posting you agree to them.

What you can post

  • Lost & found. Pets, keys, wallets, phones.
  • Recommendations wanted. A plumber, a dog groomer, a decent Sunday roast.
  • Local questions. Bin days, bus changes, what is happening on the seafront.
  • Community announcements. Free apples on the drive, a beach clean, a street party.

What you cannot post

  • Adverts, sales, services for hire or anything commercial. Businesses have the directory and Seaford Deals for that.
  • Anything unkind, untrue, or about a named person without their say-so.
  • Other people's personal details: names with addresses, phone numbers, car registrations and the like.
  • Anything unlawful, political campaigning, or fundraising appeals.

How notices are checked

Nothing appears on the board until a person has read it, usually within a day. We may shorten a notice, fix a typo or decline it; if we decline it we email you to say why, and you can adjust it and send it again. We do not guarantee that anything posted is accurate.

How long a notice stays up

Each type of notice comes down automatically:

  • Lost & found: 30 days
  • Recommendations wanted: 14 days
  • Local questions: 7 days
  • Community announcements: 14 days

After that the page stays reachable for a further 30 days for anyone who saved the link, marked as expired and hidden from search engines, and is then deleted.

Your contact details

Your email address and phone number are never shown on the board. The page shows only a hint that one is on file (the first letter of your email, the last three digits of your phone) and a button that emails us. We pass replies on to you and do not use your details for anything else. See the privacy notice.

Your words

You keep the rights to what you write. You give Discover Seaford permission to publish it on this site, edit it for length or clarity, and keep it for the period above.

Getting a notice removed or marked resolved

Found what you lost, sorted your question, or changed your mind? Every notice has a “report or remove” link, or email [email protected] with the notice's title. We take notices down on request from the person who posted them, and will look at any report from anyone else within a couple of days.
