FREE HIKE Seven Sisters: The Edge of the Island, Scenic October Coastline
October transforms the Seven Sisters: sharper light, stronger winds, deeper colours, and a coastline that feels far more alive than in the summer months. This October edition is part of the group's annual Seven Sisters series. It is a free, linear hike of about 13–15 miles, graded moderate to challenging, with continuous ups and downs over the full run of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs. A good level of fitness is required. Meet outside Seaford Station at 10:15am for a sharp 10:30am start. The route passes Seaford's Martello Tower, goes through Cuckmere Haven and over all eight rises between Haven Brow and Went Hill Brow, and follows sections of the South Downs Way. Lunch is at Birling Gap Café, which has facilities. The walk then continues past Belle Tout lighthouse and Beachy Head and finishes at Eastbourne Station by 6pm. The organiser says to buy a return from Eastbourne Station. Bring sturdy hiking boots, a packed lunch and snacks, at least 1.5 litres of water, clothing for the weather, and card or cash for the pub after the hike. Please RSVP on Meetup before attending.
