Alsop auction puts Seaford footpaths and land up for sale without council notice
Auctioneer Alsop has listed parcels of Seaford land — mainly footpaths and pockets of territory around West Street, Green Lane, Richington Way and Blue Haze Avenue — for auction. Letters went to affected residents; neither Seaford Town Council nor East Sussex County Council were notified in advance.
On 15 April 2026 residents of several Seaford streets received letters from auctioneer Alsop about parcels of land — described as mainly footpaths and pockets of territory in the West Street, Green Lane, Richington Way and Blue Haze Avenue areas — that have been put up for auction. Neither Seaford Town Council nor East Sussex County Council had been notified in advance.
County Councillor Carolyn Lambert has taken up the issue with senior figures at East Sussex County Council; a follow-up response from the County Council was circulated to residents who raised concerns (17 April 2026). Maps of the affected parcels were posted separately in the SEAFORD RESIDENTS VOICE Facebook group by the author who first raised the alert.
The sale of footpaths in established residential streets is a planning and rights-of-way issue with direct impact on affected households and the wider community.
